Basanti Puja
Worship of Goddess Durga during the Spring season (Chaitra Navratri)

- Idol of Goddess Durga
- Ghat (Kalash) & Coconut
- Mango Leaves
- Red Cloth (Chunri)
- Flowers (Hibiscus, Marigold)
- Bel Leaves (Bilva Patra)
- Sandalwood Paste (Chandan)
- Incense, Lamp, Dhuno
- Fruits, Sweets, Naivedya
- Barley Seeds (for Ghatasthapana)
Step-by-Step Procedure
Ghatasthapana (Shashthi)
On the sixth day (or first day of Navratri), establish the Kalash. Sow barley seeds. Invoke the Goddess.
Saptami Puja
Perform the bathing ritual of the Navapatrika (nine plants). Infuse life into the idol (Pran Pratishtha).
Maha Ashtami
Worship the Goddess with 108 lotuses. Perform Kumari Puja. The Sandhi Puja is performed at the juncture of Ashtami and Navami.
Maha Navami
Perform the Homa (Fire ritual). Offer Bhog and Pushpanjali. This marks the victory of good over evil.
Dashami (Visarjan)
Bid farewell to the Goddess. Immerse the idol in water (Visarjan) and seek her blessings for the coming year.
Durga Mantra
"Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu Shakti Rupena Samsthita
Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah"
Meaning: To that Goddess who abides in all beings as power (Shakti), I bow to Her, I bow to Her, I bow to Her again and again.
