Daily Durga Puja
Simple daily worship to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga
Materials Required
- Picture or Idol of Goddess Durga
- Red Flower (Hibiscus is preferred)
- Incense Sticks (Agarbatti)
- Oil Lamp (Diya) with Ghee/Oil
- Water in a small copper vessel
- Sandalwood Paste (Chandan)
- Kumkum (Vermilion)
- Sweets or Fruits for offering
- Bell (Ghanti)
Step-by-Step Procedure
Purification
After bathing, sit on a clean asana (mat) facing East or North. Sprinkle some water on yourself and the pooja items for purification.
Lighting the Lamp
Light the Diya and Incense sticks. This dispels darkness and creates a divine atmosphere.
Invocation & Tilak
Pray to Lord Ganesha first to remove obstacles. Then, apply Chandan and Kumkum tilak to the forehead of Goddess Durga.
Offerings (Pushpam & Naivedyam)
Offer red flowers at Her feet. Offer fruits or sweets as Naivedyam (Prasad) and some water.
Chanting
Chant the Durga Mantra "Om Dum Durgaye Namaha" 108 times or recite the Durga Chalisa.
Aarti
Perform the Aarti while ringing the bell. Pray for strength, protection, and well-being.
Daily Mantra
"Om Dum Durgaye Namaha"
Meaning: Salutations to the Goddess Durga, who is the remover of all difficulties.
